There are three types of strength testing, they are Isometric, Isokinetic and Isotonic. Of the three types of testing, it is Isotonic (dynamic) testing that is the most commonly used due to the fact it is the easiest to administer and does not require any costly and expensive equipment.
Examples of dynamic (isotonic) strength testing include the one repetition maximum (1RM) bench press, squat, overhead press and dead lift.
